Each daily news report becomes more dire as we listen to the alarming increase of Covid 19 cases. It seemed the virus was finally losing its grip on our communities, only to return with a vengeance. What are we to do? How do we deal with the weight of Covid 19 cases, racial unrest and the problems we still have in our homes? It seems we need a moment to sit, catch our breath and gain a second wind. That is exactly what we need, a second wind.
Psalm 84:1-3 provides us with such a place to gain a second wind:
How dear to me is your dwelling, O Lord of Hosts! My soul has a desire and longing for the courts of the Lord; my heart and my flesh rejoice in the Living God.
The sparrow has found her a house and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young; by the side of your altars, O Lord of hosts, my king and my God.
Happy are they who dwell in your house!
They will always be praising you.
Our rest, peace and assurance can be found in the places of God. The Lord of Lords and the King of Kings provides the peace that surpasses all understanding. We need moments of this peace and rest in order to recharge our batteries.
Take the time to map out periods of rest. Do not think of all the things that have to be done.
Just drop everything and sit and be in the presence of God and His Son Jesus Christ. Your comfort is there!
Let this song take you away to that place, where God can speak into your soul.
