Looking For Jesus

In Sunday's gospel, the disciples are looking for Jesus and could not find Him for He had slipped away for quiet time and to pray. When they found Him they exclaimed, "Everyone is looking for you."

What makes us look for Jesus? Is there even an impetus, a drive to look for Him?

Are we like the four friends who were desperate to get their lame friend to Jesus and brought him in through the roof? What lengths are we willing to go to find Jesus,

In Deuteronomy 4:29, Moses tells the people,"from there you will seek the Lord your God and you will find him if you search after him with your heart and soul,"

The important part of this verse is searching with your "heart and soul." God has given us His best. And in return He expects our best, not mediocrity. We can only find God if we are sincerely searching Him out to have a relationship with Him. What is a relationship? In any relationship, we talk, we listen, we laugh, we get to know the other person. As the relationship advances we can exchange personal stories, traumatic events, dreams. And so in our relationship with God and with Jesus we bare our hearts. We draw closer to develop an intimate relationship with them. But first we need to seek them out.

Luke 11:9 tells us, "So I say to you, Ask, and it will be given you, search and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you." And in Revelation 3:19 Jesus responds with this answer. "Listen, I am standing at the door, knocking; if you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in to you and eat with you and you with me."

My friends, Jesus is standing at the door of your heart and knocking, invite Him in. You don't have to go searching for Him like the disciples, He is here, waiting for you to answer with all your heart and soul.

I pray this day that you will find Jesus!

Enjoy: Have you seen Jesus My Lord.
