As the new year begins, what is it you want to do differently this year. If there is one thing this period of living in the covid 19 pandemic has taught us, it is that we are capable of a lot more than we ever thought.
What about your faith walk? Your Spirituality? This is something you may want to improve if you have:
You have fallen away from the path
You have not been to church in a while
Your prayer life is practically nonexistent
You are bored
You don’t see the benefit of even trying.
You are stuck in a rut!
It is amazing how your life changes as you grow closer to Jesus. What are some of the ways in which you can change your spiritual life?
First make the commitment to change it. It is going to take work. It just does not happen because you thought of it. Give it breathe! Say out loud what it is you want to achieve. Then try:
Daily prayer. This allows you to carry your cares to God. You then realize you do not have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders alone. God helps you to carry the weight.
Bible Reading: The stories of the bible make us aware of God; his character, his love. We soon realize the people of the bible made the same mistakes we make and we learn from them.
Use a bible app: it holds us accountable for daily readings.
Mediation- take time out to simply sit still.
Listen to Christian Radio/TV: The music on the radio can transcend us to a sacred place where God is our center. The lyrics and the music draw us closely in. On the television we listen to stories from people whose lives have been turned away from drug or alcohol abuse, criminal activity and useless living. For me, as I listen to these stories, I am so grateful for how God carefully orchestrated their lives towards Him, towards the light.
Join a small Group. A small group can be made up of friends or family. Your home becomes the center of your transformation, your center for Christ’ ministry. In these informal settings, here is love. Love provides a safe space where stories can be shared.
And where we can ask anything - we can ask for clarification.
We can listen well
We can make what we think are silly comments. However, someone may have been thinking the same thing.
We can freely disagree, which is good. This makes for great discussion.
And we can laugh and we can love.
Our home is the center of our ministry.
Hopefully this will stir you to new beginnings, the new beginning of a strong spiritual life.
Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Ps 127:1
And every day in the temple and at home they did not cease to teach and proclaim Jesus as the Messiah. Act 5:42
My friends, don't do the same thing expecting different results - it doesn't work! It will just be another year going by! Wake up, this is a new dawn, a new beginning!
May God's blessings be upon your home!
